The 4th of July in New Mexico

Rhen and I took a little vacation with his family over July 4th weekend. It was really hot, but we had a blast! We spent our first night in Monticello, UT. By the time we rolled in it was after midnight.  We met a new friend named Les who got us all checked in. We had quite the adventure with that. We were so tired by the time we finally got to our rooms that we slept like babies. We finished our drive into New Mexico where we enjoyed buying out the flea market, eating fry bread, visiting Window Rock, a couple of trading posts, and the beautiufl scenery. My mom grew up on the reservation, so it was fun for me to show Rhen's family the area where my mom grew up. It was fun to introduce the family to the beautiful Navajo culture and history that is part of my heritage. On the way back, we stayed in Cortez, Colorado where we enjoyed the majestic ruins of Mesa Verde. It was a quick trip, filled with lots of driving; but it was a lot of fun to spend time together and see new things. We are already planning our next adventure!
