Take Me Out to the Ball Game

Padry's work party was a baseball game this year, so we had a family night out to the Bee's game. Rhen can't remember ever going to a baseball game and it had been several years since Missy had been. It was so much fun!

If you are looking for something fun to do...you should try a baseball game!

Goin' to the parade...

As always, life has taken some unexpected twists this past month. Adam and Alyssa have moved back to Utah!!!!! YEAH!!! We are thrilled to have them back. Surely it has been quite an adjustment for their little family, but we are so grateful to have them back. Rhen and I had a sleepover with the neices and the nephew. It was crazy, but we had so much fun. We went to see Ramona and Beezus, which took me back. I remeber reading the Ramona books when I was in elementary school. Then next day we took them to the 24th of July parade. We were VERY late.... which is why we don't have pictures of the floats or the crowd. We need practice when it comes to getting four little kids up, fed, dressed, happy, and buckled into the car. We were soooo happy that we had chosen to include Grandma in our sleepover, because Rhen and I might not have made it!

It was fun to have all the little ones together. After we finished up our snow cone party, we headed home. We love our little friends are so grateful for their cute smiles, silly giggles, and the funny things they say. Being and aunt/uncle is pretty great!

Jentry, Darren, Tycia, and Kaitlyn awaiting their hike to
Cliff Palace.
Jentry met a fellow biker dude. Darren is hoping that she
never shows up to the house to introduce a guy that resembles
him, but who knows.....
There are lots of ruins hidden throughout the Mesa Verde
National Park. 4,000 to be exact. If you have never had the
chance to visit Mesa Verder, it is definitely worth your while.

Aztec, New Mexico

Kaitlyn, Tycia, and Jentry on our tour
of the ruins at Aztec, New Mexico
It was fun to visit the ruins and consider how much work, intelligence, and innovation went into creating the beautiful structures that these ancient people dwelled and worhipped in. Kaitlyn so beautifully posed for a picture. You can see that there is a massive mound of ruins behind her. We got to walk through the various rooms. Rhen and Darren did great ducking under all of the short doorways. They kept warning me to keep my head down, but of course I had to hit my head a time or two. The doorways were really short, so they were perfect for Tycia! (Just Kidding Ty) We went on a self-guided tour of the monument. Rhen read to us while we made our way through. He did a fabulous job! It was awesome! It was pretty toasty, so I was practically melted by the time we finished. It made the hour long air conditioned car ride really appreciated!

Window Rock, Arizona

This is the Window Rock in Arizona. It is beautiful!

culture.

The 4th of July in New Mexico

Rhen and I took a little vacation with his family over July 4th weekend. It was really hot, but we had a blast! We spent our first night in Monticello, UT. By the time we rolled in it was after midnight.  We met a new friend named Les who got us all checked in. We had quite the adventure with that. We were so tired by the time we finally got to our rooms that we slept like babies. We finished our drive into New Mexico where we enjoyed buying out the flea market, eating fry bread, visiting Window Rock, a couple of trading posts, and the beautiufl scenery. My mom grew up on the reservation, so it was fun for me to show Rhen's family the area where my mom grew up. It was fun to introduce the family to the beautiful Navajo culture and history that is part of my heritage. On the way back, we stayed in Cortez, Colorado where we enjoyed the majestic ruins of Mesa Verde. It was a quick trip, filled with lots of driving; but it was a lot of fun to spend time together and see new things. We are already planning our next adventure!
